FLUX

What it does

FLUX, from Black Forest Labs, set the current bar for open-weight image generation — photoreal output, legible text in images and strong prompt adherence. The pro variants run hosted; open weights are self-hostable.

For product staging and lifestyle mockups it rivals closed leaders. Hosted access is metered per image; licences for self-hosting differ between variants, so read the fine print.

Standout features

• State-of-the-art open-weight image quality
• Renders legible text inside images
• Hosted API plus self-host options
• Strong prompt adherence
